Strong Women is a project which equips women with life skills and helps them to develop self-confidence, resilience and the decision-making capabilities they need to deal with their day-to-day lives.
Following the course, participants are encouraged to
move on to other opportunities whether this be
education, training, further support groups, voluntary
roles or into work. They are also encouraged to enrol
for the ‘Stronger Women’ follow-on course and use
their developing skills to the benefit of the community.
Workshops are held for one morning every week for
six weeks. The programme draws on positive
psychology which helps to identify and use strengths
rather than focusing on dysfunction. It is particularly
suited to encouraging and engaging women within
Signposting takes place during the last session. This
gives the participants opportunity to identify their next
steps and ensure a longer-lasting impact to the course.
